I am sure everyone knows what WordPress is. Just to be sure, WordPress is an “open source blog publishing application” that is built using PHP and MySql. So if you want to start a blog, Wordpress is one of the easiest platforms you can use to manage it. One of its strengths comes from the fact that you can use 3rd party Widgets and Plugins to rearange content without changing any PHP code. This makes Wordpress very user friendly.

As every website out there, Wordpress users also want to have a “contact us” page, so that visitors can send messages. A simple way to achieve that is to use a contact form plugin. There are several out there, but the most popular are WP Contact Form, Contact Form 7 and 123ContactForm for Wordpress.

Contact Form 7 plugin was developed by Takayuki Miyos back in 2007. Even though it claimes to be “just another contact form plugin”, it’s much more than that. It’s a fully customizable Wordpress contact form plugin that includes anti spam image verification (Captcha), Ajax based submission and a fully integrated spam filter based on Akismet. After installation, a new box will appear in your Wordpress Administration panel. Through that, you can customize your web forms. Furthermore, on Contact Form 7’s official website you can find a paid PDF guide, that is very usefull for begginers.

WP Contact Form is a relatively simple plugin for Wordpress. After installation, all you have to do is include a tag line in a post and you will have a brand new email form. Not very customizable, but pretty fast to deploy if you are in a hurry.

The final position in my list is ocupied by a contact form plugin for Wordpress developed by 123ContactForm. Installation and deployment is similar to every plugin that’s out there, but there is a catch: by installing this plugin you gain access to a wide variety of features that cannot be included in a stand alone plugin. 123ContactForm is an online contact form generator that made this plugin so that every Wordpress user can access a wide variety of templates and advanced features like field validation, multiple or custom recipients, messages archive, reference id, payment integration with Paypal and Google Checkout.

No matter what plugin you are using, just make sure it’s configured corectly and test it by filling the contact form yourself.

More and more, people are using their mobile phones and other mobile, web-enabled devices to stay connected. Having a mobile-optimized website is thus a great advantage if you’re hoping to reach a larger, increasingly mobilized audience. While many of today’s mobile browser have the ability to display “full” sites, creating sites that cater to smaller screens and have features that make use of the various functionalities specific to mobile devices (functionalities such as touch screens, address books and geolocation) will add value to your site and make it easier and more rewarding for mobile users to browse through.

So how do you go about “mobilizing” your website if you have no mobile web design experience? More and more companies are now turning to the internet as a way to develop and promote their business and products. However competition is massive and you really have to think about the design of your website if you want to get noticed. A web design company can help you construct a website that will show your products and services off to their best advantage and ensure you stand out from other similar sites.

There are a few essentials you need to find out before selecting a web design company to help with your design. First of all ask to see other sites they have produced and this will give you a feel for what they do and if it is to your liking. Most companies do offer a portfolio of their past work to show clients, as well as giving you an idea of their style it can help you decide if their ideas are in tune with yours. Always ask to see samples of a web design company’s previous work before signing them up to build your website.

It’s important you find out how much the website is going to cost you in total, also ask for the costs to be broken down so you can see where your money is going. You will probably have a budget to keep to and you need to know how much money is needed before any work is done and set it aside. Make sure you are very clear on what exactly the price covers, some companies offer a follow-up consultation or help-line in their price whilst others will just present you with a complete design and that will be it.

Always ask for an estimation as to when you can expect the website to be completed as this is useful to know beforehand for your own deadlines, also getting online as quickly as possible will mean you are able to reach a worldwide audience, and prevent you from getting frustrated if you think the site is taking far long than it should.

It’s a good idea to obtain references, this could be from friends and acquaintances that have used their services before, or, in some cases, the web design company will provide references vouching for their professional behavior and great product.

Find a company that is established and has a good customer base as they will also have lots of previous experience in different kinds of websites. Customer service is just as important, if you are paying a lot of money to have your web site designed then you want helpful advice and information and be able to get in touch with the company by email or telephone without long delays. A company that doesn’t get around to replying to emails for 3 or 4 days probably won’t be in a rush to get your website finished in good time either.

A website designer should be able to offer you the best in content management systems, ecommerce solutions and online marketing strategies such as Joomla, VirtueMart, Moodle, Campaign Monitor and Google Analytics. As well as listening to what you want to achieve from your website they should also have a valuable input in meeting your requirements. The completed website should be interactive and include some of the latest features such as pod casting, Flash video, blogs, forums, event management, community and social networking services, user login and user profiles, galleries, email marketing, real time chat, payment systems and shopping carts. Whatever look you are hoping for, the end result should be a collaboration between you and the company you choose.

Make your website work for your target audience by choosing an experienced web design companies who use Joomla UK and offer a professional service at affordable prices.

Associate Facebook with Wordpress

Consider a few numbers; More than 350 million users with more than 50% actively online at any given point of time, average of an hour’s time spent by each average user with translation available in 70 languages. This and many more such numbers make Facebook an ideal platform for blogging interests and the like.

Aligning WordPress Blog with Facebook

The Facebook API makes it very simple for the integration of a WordPress blog into Facebook. In fact, the Facebook is so convenient that with it making programming applications that could be promoted through Facebook becomes as easy as a stroll in the park. How does it work? Well, Facebook or any other networking sites work on simple phenomena akin to chain reactions. For e.g., let’s take an application to understand better. “Farmville” is one of the many interactive browsing games on Facebook. Now, game permits users to build an agrarian life with the help of their friends and networking aids. So, a player starting a Farmville game invites all his friends to join and help him, who in response invite all ‘their’ friends and so on, thereby building a long and strong chain of users. The sustainability is derived from the various ads and campaigns displayed and promoted on your page. This creates a win situation for both its applications and Facebook.

Plug-In Installation and Configuration

In early 2009, John Eckman created the WordPress. Through this WordPress blog holder could easily align their stuff with Facebook. This allowed a dual accessibility on the blog owner’s page; one through the original link to the page and second, through the Facebook application. To access any application on Facebook, one needs to permit the application which further implies allowing the application access to all the personal details of the user. Now, this is something which makes the usage of applications a little shady but considering the fact that it is a source of revenue generation (allows user centric display of ads) for the site, there is nothing much left to question. After granting permission the user is taken to the ‘canvas’ page, where the blog is accessed through the Facebook window. The user can now easily post share and comments views on the blog with their network which further gives the blog enhanced spread.

Aligning Facebook with WordPress Blog

The OpenID protocol allows users to have a single ID access to several internet services and products. OpenID is an attempt to make the web more simple and friendly. It works through the decentralization of user IDs and increased accessibility of the web. Facebook has adopted the OpenID platform since 2007 which means a single Facebook user account could allow access to all the connecting networks and WebPages. Users would not have to create unique IDs and profiles for various services because the OpenID would automatically collect all the relevant data from the Facebook account. The rest is done in accordance with the preceding alignment.
